Tavistock B 0

FOR the first time in years two men's hockey teams from Tavistock met each other in a league match. Tavistock seconds (the A team) are currently top of the South West District one league and were determined not to lose this position by being beaten by their own thirds (B) team.

Unfortunately for the thirds, there was no upset to the team book as the seconds dominated the first half from the start.

Goals from Jonathan Elliot, Kevin Lethbridge and three from Adam Holland put the result beyond doubt by half-time.

When Elliott added his second within a minute of the restart the thirds looked in danger of suffering their heaviest defeat in years. However, the B team responded with a determined effort to battle their way back into the game.

A strong defense, led by Mark Tosdevin, kept the A team from increasing their lead in the final 30 minutes.

An inspired display of goal keeping by Martyn Osborne backed up the defense. The A team were twice frustrated by the post in the only occasion the B team keeper was beaten.

This result keeps Tavy A top of the league on goal difference.
