FOLLOWING their success in last year's Cape to Cape Challenge pensioners Terry Bolt From Callington and Jeff Hearn from Cox Park are soon to embark on the 2013 run in Terry's 1950 MG TD, which will again be for the benefit of Macmillan Cancer Support.
This year's challenge will see them starting from Capo de Roca, near Lisbon in Portugal, and undertaking a gruelling route through some of the more remote areas of Portugal and Spain before returning to Plymouth by ferry to complete the journey to Cape Cornwall.
Fundraising is well under way, the latest event being a well supported and successful big breakfast at Callington Town Hall last Saturday.
This was again staffed by members of Callington Methodist Church Table Tennis Club under the leadership of Captain Tony Rickard, and the amazing sum of £1,800 was raised by feeding approximately 300 hungry customers.
There are just two events of the campaign remaining — an 'Evening of Laughter and Music' at Callington Town Hall on April 12 when top local comedian Johnny Cowling is joined by Liskerret Male Voice Choir, and a 'Cream Tea and Garden Party' at Cox Park Farm on Sunday, April 21.
The pair will be leaving for Portugal on April 23. To sponsor Terry and Jeff's Cape to Cape challenge call 01822 832109 or 01579 383497.
