TAVISTOCK Area Support Services is appealing to Times readers to offer a few hours of their spare time for a rewarding role as a volunteer.

Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS) needs volunteers to assist in the running of its charity shop in Barley Market Street.

TASS general manager Andy Lyle said that without the commitment of current volunteers, some TASS services would not be possible. He said: 'When you read about volunteers and TASS, you always think of the volunteers that help to make a difference through supporting groups or providing transport, but behind the scenes there is a band of volunteers who turn out week in, week out, to open our charity shop.'

The charity shop volunteers help in the shop, serving customers and keeping shelves stocked.

Mr Lyle added: 'These volunteers work quietly behind the scenes to help raise some of the money that means we can provide the variety of services. They are crucial to all we do.'

People who can spare a few hours a week or fortnight, and are interested in this role, contact Val on 01822 616958 or visit the Anchorage Centre.
