A GRANT has been given to Tavistock Area Support Services by Age Concern England in order to develop its table tennis club. TASS successfully launched the club at the Anchorage Centre in Tavistock, for those over 55, back in February, thanks to an initial grant by 5X30. After the launch, the club developed into a ?hub of activity? for some 24 members and has now become so popular that TASS has launched a Monday evening session, between 7pm and 9.30pm, for those unable to make the Thursday afternoons. Andy Lyle, TASS?s general manager, said: ?It is wonderful to see so many enjoying themselves playing table tennis. We are so appreciative of the grants we have received from 5X30 and ACE for making this activity happen and making a difference to so many people.? During the past few months the group has not only secured funding from 5X30 and Age Concern England, but has also raised its own funds to purchase a third table.
