AN aspiring model from West Devon has made it into the top 40 of a calendar girl competition for Grid Girls.
Tania Coker, 22, works at Betfred in the town and at Tinhay Garage, but is seeking a career as a model. She recently decided to enter a modelling competition run by the Kerri Parker Academy, searching for Grid Girls Calendar Girls.
Tania, of Tavistock, said: 'This year more than 600 girls entered and I have been lucky enough to make the top forty.
'Judges will now choose just 12 girls as the 2011 Grid Girl winners, who will head to Norwich to shoot the official 2012 calendar this September, receive Grid Girl appearances at racing events and appear in the calendar with a page each next year.'
One overall winner will also be decided by the judges from the day's shoot to appear on the front cover of the official calendar.
Tania said: 'I have also recently been selected to take part in a boxing-style themed calendar which I also found out about with the academy.
'In November I will be taking part in the Model of the Year final in Norwich, for which I was selected through a photographic round.
'This grand final will give me the chance to win more than £10,000 worth of prizes, including a calendar shoot on the Red Sea and a week's holiday in Egypt.'
