TWENTY members of Callington-based Tamar Foods staff are raising vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and Ellie's Haven as part of the Samworth Challenge, taking place in June.
Five teams of four will face a whole day of physical challenges in Scotland and altogether are aiming to raise £10,000 for their chosen charities.
The challenge will be an adventure race on foot, in canoes and on bikes with the route taking the teams onto Loch Lomond and the surrounding breath-taking scenery.
The teams do not find out the details of the route until the day of the event but there is a 'tough' route covering around 60 kilometres or a 'super tough' route covering around 80 kilometres.
Wayne Day, managing director at Tamar Foods, is a member of one of the teams. He said: 'We are excited to be taking part in this challenge and want to raise as much as possible for both of these charities.'
In the run-up to the challenge the teams are doing collections, charity car washes, raffles and quiz nights to raise cash for the charities.
Ellie's Haven is a charity based in Cornwall that offers relief to children suffering from long-term and life threatening illnesses.
Macmillan Cancer Support is investing in new Macmillan doctors and nurses in Devon and Cornwall to help the 10,500 people diagnosed every year in the area.
Both charities rely on donations to continue their work. Anyone wishing to support staff taking on the Samworth Challenge can sponsor them at http://www.justgiving.com/Tamar-Foods-Challenges1">www.justgiving.com/Tamar-Foods-Challenges1
