INDIVIDUALS and community groups across West Devon are being invited to attend a free training day to help them secure funding for community projects. The event is being offered by Westden?s Communities in Action project and will focus on how incorporating sustainability into applications can help get vital funding for community projects. The training day will feature expert speakers from Westden, from Devon Renaissance and from the CVS (Community Voluntary Service) and will take place on April 27 at Meldon Village Hall. Following the talks there will be a chance to share experiences and ideas with other community groups and individuals. The Communities in Action team will be on hand to address any specific queries. CiA project manager Clare Williamson-Cary said: ?It will be a really good chance for people to come and obtain advice from professionals and successful fundraisers. ?The event will also provide an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the term, ?Sustainability? and use that knowledge to enhance their funding applications.? Westden?s Communities in Action team can offer free advice and support in areas such as business planning, fundraising activities and ideas for sources of funding. The event runs from 9.30am to 1pm and is free to attend with complimentary light refreshments. Places are limited.
