THE Lanhydrock 10 miler in East Cornwall took place on a beautiful warm day with the parkland looking at its very best.

The route zig-zags around the National Trust estate on trails, tracks, and grasslands but almost never goes on the same stretch twice. The River Fowey runs through the park some 100 metres below the house and runners find themselves going up and down this height three times.

The route has some wonderful tree-lined shady tracks but in places the uphill stretches were in the full blazing sunshine making the going pretty tough.

Seven members from Tavistock Athletic Club competed. First club member home was Becky Mingo in 24th place overall and fourth senior female. Continuing his winning streak, Andy Houghton won the Male 65+ category.

All other TAC members did remarkably well considering the conditions – especially Adrian Pitcher who was completing his first 10 mile race.

TAC times: Becky Mingo 1 hour,19 minutes,16 seconds, Andy Houghton 1.27.00, Gary Chater 1.39.51, Adrian Pitcher 1.43.30, Julia Mangan 1.45.57, Andrew Alcock 1.46.14 and Helen Alcock 1.54.42.
