THE third race in the Brooks Westward League series, which incorporated the Devon County Cross Country Championships, with Tavistock Athletic Club coming home with a huge medal haul.

The cross country league is competed for between teams from Devon and Cornwall.

It was extremely cold but not unpleasant conditions for the athletes at Exeter Arena. The races were slightly delayed starting due to traffic problems, however this did allow the late arriving Pete Bazeley to actually make the start in time and collect a team medal and individual medal for his efforts.

The course was undulating with some long drags, and speedy downhills, over firm parkland ground.

Tavistock were down on their normal contingent with Eastaugh and Lloyd injured and not making the journey, so it was left for the other 34 Tavistock runners across the age groups to fly the flag and bring home the spoils.

In all it was an excellent performances from TAC athletes who netted 10 individual medals and four team medals.
