OPEN day at Tavistock?s Harewood House Day Centre went with a swing as local band Len Mills and the Wrist Brothers kept visitors entertained.

The day was opened by Calstock town crier Hilary Fairhurst, who appeared by permission of Tavistock?s own crier Bob Rose.

She was accompanied by day centre users who had learned to play handchimes for the occasion, under the expert tuition of care assistant Sue Atkins.

Visitors browsed the various stalls and tried out games in the day centre before heading outside to enjoy the sultry sounds of the Len Mills quartet.

Day Centre carer Dot Jones said: ?All went extremely well on the day ? and even after all the cream tea expenses were taken out we still raised more than £250.?

The money will go towards Harewood?s ?comfort fund? and staff training.
