DOZENS of children took part in the Tavistock and Area Inter-Schools Swimming Gala organised by Tavistock Swimming Club, Meadowlands and West Devon Borough Council. Held at Meadowlands Leisure Pool, eight primary schools from the area took part. The day was organised by Shelia Radgick, Tavistock Swimming Club, Natalie Wates and Tammy Messenger, West Devon Borough Council's sports development officer. The most sporting team with the best team spirit on the day was Lifton Primary who won the fair play award. Winner of the large schools section was Tavistock, with St Peters, Whitchurch School coming second, Tavistock , third and St Andrews forth. In the small schools category, Meavy came first, Lady Modifords, second, Lamerton and Mary Tavy were third, with Lifton fourth. The event was a great success due to the excellent work from the Tavistock Swimming Club volunteers.
