Tavistock Swimming Club travelled to Exeter on Saturday to compete in the Exeter City Speedo Warm-Up Gala. Unfortunately two other teams had to withdraw, leaving only Exeter 'A', Tiverton and Tavistock in the competition. Exeter 'A' had a convincing win with Tiverton and Tavistock fighting it out for second and third place. It was a close run thing with Tiverton eventually taking second place by one point.
Despite taking third place it was a very successful gala for both Peter Freedman and Matthew Henry as each achieved a club record. Personal best times were achieved by Peter Freedman, Matthew Henry (2), Gavin Court (2), James Windermer.
First places were gained by Caroline Ball in the 11-12 yrs 50m backstroke and the Boys 13/U 4 x 50m freestyle relay team - Iain Court, Christopher Ralph, William Crocker and Gavin Court.
Tavistock are now back to their full training programme after the summer break and looking forward to the forthcoming season. Anyone interested in coming along with a view to joining the club or wishing for further information can contact Chief Coach, Margaret Gardner on 01566 782890.
