Duchy Premier Lamerton 1 Launceston 0 LAMERTON secured another win in a hard fought game against Launceston. The goal was scored in the first half after several opportunities came Lamerton?s way. Dan Healy really should have taken the lead early on for the home side when Kev Swift put him through on goal, but he blasted over from just inside the box. The Launceston defence looked vulnerable and midway through the first half a flick from Mark Gibbings down the right saw Rich Searle outpace his marker and square a good ball into the box for Gibbings to tap home but the ball just passed beyond him but Swift was on hand to provide the finish from six yards out. There were further chances before the break as the Lamerton midfield continued to push forward. James Healy came closest to 2-0 when he found space in the six yard box, but was denied by a good hand from the keeper as the ball seemed to be rolling in. Launceston threatened more in the second half and Lamerton took their foot off the pedal. They were nearly made to pay in the last ten minutes when a shot from midfield was parried out by Lee Hunter and the Launceston winger reacted quickly to get to the ball first with the goal gaping; he smashed a shot low and hard, but it went right at Hunter who made a good reaction save. Lamerton had a few more good chances to seal the game but the one goal was enough in the end. l This Saturday, Lamerton are at home to St Merryn, kick off 2.30pm.
