A TWELVE -year-old West Devon horse rider collected plenty of rosettes at a recent national championship.

Lifton girl Lizzie Luxton, made the long journey to Addington Manor, Buckinghamshire, with her two qualified rides for the national coloured horse and pony championships.

Lizzie's first ride at last weekend's event was 'Biscuit', owned by Bernard Langdon, of Tavistock. Lizzie and Biscuit were fourth in the rider hunters, third in the novice working horse/pony and won best horse in the section.

Her second ride was also extremely successful — 'Samuel Whiskers', a 13 hands high pony owned by Lucy Sizmur, of Bridestowe. 'Tonto', as he is known, had two second places and was overall reserve rider champion for the day.
