A SHOP set up by Tavistock College pupils to help meet the costs of the student prom is now raising money for charity as well.
The Sixth Form Committee opened a sweet shop in its common area to raise cash but members decided that they would like to help people in a worse situation than themselves as well as the community of sixth formers. They chose to help Leukaemia Care UK.
Shop manager Francesco D'Alessio said: 'We have been running a tuck shop on our own for five months now, managed by myself with the help of 15 others, to raise £60 for charities and £160 for sixth form activities. We intend to raise even more by the end of the year with a goal of £150.
'We have been opening on Tuesdays and Thursdays for two hours and the stall is thriving. We all love doing it and it is a great legacy for the sixth form in years to come.'
