DARTMOOR National Park Authority is inviting everyone to get their thinking caps on to come up with innovative ideas for sustainable development.
The Dartmoor Sustainable Development Fund was launched in 2002 to enable individuals, community groups and businesses to finance inventive schemes within the park boundaries.
The fund has gone from strength to strength and is now being extended for another year with a further £200,000 to allocate.
Peter Joyce, sustainable development fund officer, said: ?Sustainability is one of those words that seem to be on everyone?s lips these days.
?In essence it is about having a good quality of life now, but in a way that also ensures that our children and their children will too.
?To be truly sustainable, a new development must strike a balance between the economic, social and environmental needs of the community.
?Balance is both essential and desirable.?
Since its inauguration, the fund has given grants to help get more than 40 projects off the ground, including £10,000 to the Dartmoor Whiteface Sheep Association, £23,500 to the Country Land and Business Association and £20,000 towards building a new village shop and Post Office in Holne Village.
