TAVISTOCK College's surf team have paddled their way to raising more than £100 for team equipment.

Their sponsored endurance paddle on surfboards took place at Meadowlands pool, which had been lent free of charge, with five team members given the challenge of paddling three surf boards continuously for one hour to achieve a target distance of four miles.

The surfers managed to exceed this and paddled seven miles, raising more than £100 for equipment as well as improving fitness and technique.

The surfboards were loaned by Alder and the event was organised by Pete Keegan and Dan Kinsman.

The students also received the news that the team and academy are now officially sponsored by Fat Face, with whom they hope to work closely to improve surfing opportunities for students at the college, increase awareness of the ocean environment and build links with other surf clubs in the South West.
