SHOPPERS in Callington have raised more than £200 for charity — by 'scoffing' tea and home-made cakes and buns and enjoying a one-off peek behind the scenes at a local supermarket.
The Forget Me Not tea party in aid of the Alzheimer's Society took place at Tesco last Saturday, with the staff canteen turned into a public tea room for the occasion.
Store manager Gary Wills said: 'It is great to see the local community so interested and keen to support such a worthy cause, and our staff have excelled themselves with the cakes they have made.'
By the end of the day, the tea room till had rung up £208.38 in proceeds for the Alzheimer's Society, Tesco's charity of the year.
The next fundraising event for the charity will be an 'early bird' car boot sale in the Callington store car park on August 7, starting at 7.30am and finishing at 9.30am.
