Bideford 7 Tavistock 3 TAVISTOCK Ladies Football Club returned after their Christmas break playing away to Bideford. After 25 minutes of equal play Bideford opened the scoresheet, followed by a quick second goal. Tavistock?s Louise Galway and Nikki Burns battled against a fast Bideford attack and kept them at bay for a while, but an unfortunate own goal put Bideford 3-0 up. Laura Phillip took on a temporary position as left back defence and sent the ball up the wing to Kirsty Jones, who battled past Bideford?s defence to score Tavistock?s first goal. Tavistock brought on Steph Morgan to build up the defence, but Bideford scored from a corner where the back post had been left unmarked. The second half saw Tavistock putting on a strong attack from Donna Hone and Rhianne Parsons, only to be beaten by Bideford?s keeper. Aisha Macauley took on Bideford?s midfield and turned the ball to shoot in a superb goal for Tavistock. Rhianne Parsons worked hard, running down Bideford?s defence and was rewarded with an excellent shot on the edge of the box, scoring Tavistock?s third. Bideford were not ready to give up and scored a further three goals. Player of the match: Nikki Burns.
