OKEHAMPTON RFC Second XV has a new sponsor.

The team, known as the 'Super Seconds' because of their excellent playing record in recent seasons, wore their new shirts bearing the logo of the Post Office Sports Foundation for their first home game.

The club wishes to extend its thanks to the Post Office Sports Foundation for its generous support of the team. The first outing for the shirts saw a victory for the Super II's by 17 pts to 8 pts against a strong Crediton team.

This completed a successful start to the season for all the club teams since the beginning of September, playing some excellent rugby. It really is worth visiting the club at its Glendale Road ground and supporting your local team.

The club is holding a Pledge Auction tomorrow (Friday), at the clubhouse, when Robert Pyle will be auctioning the items in his own inimitable style.

Items to be sold range from freshly baked cakes, through to trays of vegetables, individually designed quilted cushions, good quality sports kit, up to the hire of a motorbike for a day, a Mini cabriolet for a weekend and a round of golf at the Ashbury Manor course.

This is a major fund raiser for the club, and everyone is invited to come and bid for the exciting lots to be had.

New players at senior or junior level and social members are always welcome. New players should come to the clubhouse on Tuesday or Thursday training nights. Social members should come to the club on a Saturday.
