A SUCCESSFUL coffee morning organised by the Tavistock group of the Christian charity Operation Sunshine has raised a total of £800. The event was held in the Tavistock Parish Centre on November 16 and was attended by West Devon and Torridge MP Geoffrey Cox. The money raised from the coffee morning, as with all the money collected by Operation Sunshine, will go towards sending 40ft ship containers to the poor in various East African countries. The container packed last Saturday, November 24 will be going to Zimbabwe ? making a total of six containers sent this year by the charity. Felicity Derry-Thomas, the South West co-ordinator of Operation Sunshine, expressed thanks to everyone for their hard work and support over the past year and hoped the coming year would be as fruitful. Operation Sunshine collects, sorts and packs good quality second hand clothing, household goods, tools, crafts, medical and educational supplies to help those in need. The charity has been working in Tavistock and the South West for 26 years.
