THE fifth annual six-a-side football tournament run by Horrabridge Football/Football Twinning Club was held at Fillace Park Horrabridge on Saturday.
Ernesettle made it three in a row with a 1-0 victory over local side Prime Site Developments in the Champions Cup final.
Home side Horrabridge I claimed the Supplementary Cup with a 2-0 win against Toshiba I , after having beaten their team-mates Horrabridge II in the semi-final.
The sunny weather made conditions testing for the 27 teams, especially in the knockout stages.
The group stages reached their conclusion mid-afternoon with the top two teams in each group entering into the Champions Cup and the third and fourth placed teams contesting the Supplementary Cup.
Both Ernesettle and Prime Sites narrowly claimed their spot in the Champions final with 1-0 wins against Morley Cars , and Plympton II respectively.
Horrabridge I reached the Supplementary final with a slightly flattering 5-1 win against Horrabridge II, while Toshiba I needed penalties to see off DML after a goalless match in the other semi-final.
Horrabridge I claimed the Supplementary Cup by two goals to nil, much to the delight of the crowd who cheered them to victory.
In the Champions Cup final it was tight with excellent football played by both teams and chances few and far between.
It was left to Ernesettle captain and prolific goalscorer Lee Doncaster to conjure up a chance as he managed to slip his marker and score the tournament-winning goal to give them their third consecutive trophy.
Ernie Lang, who for many years was associated with the old Plymouth Combination Football League, presented the trophies and medals to the referees and the winning teams and finalists, and the 'player of the final' award to Prime Sites' goalkeeper Craig Howells.
Thanks were expressed to the prize draw sponsors, Toshiba UK, Brittany Ferries, Elfordleigh Hotel, and Ayres Sports (Tavistock) and local trophy sponsors Littlejohns Butchers, London Inn, and Londis Stores at Horrabridge and Brandon Tool Hire of Tavistock.
Thanks also went to committee members from the football club and football twinning club who helped make the day such a success, to all the clubs who entered and referees. Richard Robinson, Simon Mann, Steve Hopley, Terry Oats, Vic Taylor, and Martin Leonard.
