THE Festival spirit was alive and well in Gunnislake last week as hundreds of people gathered in the village. From Wednesday to Saturday there was lots to do. There were stalls, a bouncy castle, Punch and Judy, and face painting. On Friday and Saturday the public hall was filled with hundreds of old photos and maps as part of the local history section. Dorothy Kirk, festival committee member, said: ?This was a very popular event. People gathered around as they love to see the town as it used to be.? During the evenings every pub in Gunnislake got involved by holding music events with local bands, including Yorkie and Out To Grass. Gunnislake scarecrows were judged during the festival, with first place going to Steve John from Woodhouse for ?stop me and buy one?. Second went to Colin and Jane Perttiser from The Cornish Giant for ?Cormoran?; and third went to Bob Hughes from Tavistock Inn for ?landlord?. Dorothy said: ?There was something for everyone. It was a very jolly time and I look forward to next year.?
