SUNDAY was a day of sporting celebration for both Andy Murray and Okehampton on Sunday, as Simmons Park hosted the annual Super Sporting Sunday.
The event is the highlight of the Sports and Fitness Festival organised by OCRA. The festival promotes a huge variety of sport and physical activities, opening up sporting opportunities to everyone in the town with a huge range of free have-a-go sessions and competitions to take part in.
Many of the activities on offer are completely free, or run at special festival discount prices.
The Super Sporting Sunday also offered people the first chance to have a look around the new OCRA sports pavilion before it is fully kitted out and opened full time.
Built in a central position between the all-weather pitches, rugby pitch and tennis courts, the new building provides changing rooms, toilets, storage space and a meeting spot for sports enthusiasts.
The finishing touches are being done inside the building before its planned opening in September.
Stuart Lord of OCRA said: 'The turn-out for Super Sunday was phenomenal. Like it is every year, the park had such a great atmosphere, and everyone was in a great mood with the weather and great activities on show.
'As much as it being about the big things like the football competition, all the events, like the bowling club getting involved and seeing lots of new faces makes the whole thing really worthwhile.'
There are still activities taking place as part of the festival until July 14.
