A PACKED programme of activities is on offer this summer holidays from an Okehampton organisation dedicated to giving youngsters fun in their free time.

Okebizz is run entirely on a voluntary basis, organising days out for youngsters between the age of 11 and 18.

'During the summer holiday period we've got several trips organised,' said Cynthia, the driving force behind the group.

'We've got canoeing up the River Tamar on July 24, ice-skating and swimming at the Pavilions in Plymouth, surfing at Sennen Cove and a trip to Key West at Paignton on August 24, being run with OCRA.'

Other days out include bowling at Exeter and a day out on Roadford Lake, learning how to windsurf, canoe and sail.

Fees for the days out are kept as low as possible and only cover instruction, equipment and hire of a minibus driven by Cynthia, who is a trained youth worker.

Instructors work at a ratio of one to six students.

'Places will be limited on most trips — anyone interested will need to pay a deposit and book as early as possible to avoid disappointment,' said Cynthia.

Most trips are limited to 16 places, although a coach will be organised to Key West enabling more youngsters to join the fun.
