MATHS is adding up to a fun subject for pupils at Shebbear College. A massive interest in the subject from the present GCSE year group has resulted in a huge uptake for AS Maths. The college will even have a large set studying Further Maths which is contrary to the national trend, where further maths is becoming a dying art, much to the dismay of the top universities. ?The popularity of the subject here is partly due to catching the youngsters? enthusiasm early with such events as maths clubs and puzzles activities,? said head of maths, Eleanor Bearpark. l Pictured are the certificate winners for the Junior National Maths Challenge ? some of these winners found themselves to be in the top 5% in the country!?
