TIDY Tavi would like to thank the new volunteers who joined 14 regulars when they set out last Saturday in bright sunshine to help clear the streets of Tavistock of unsightly litter. Most parts of the town centre were visited, along with all the A386 between Anderton Lane to Mount Kelly. As usual, a large amount of rubbish thrown from passing vehicles was collected from the approaches to the town as well as bottles, cans and fast food wrappers clearly dropped by inhabitants around residential areas. A spokesperson for Tidy Tavi said: 'Instances of dog mess and litter deposited in road salt bins have also been reported. This has been particularly unfortunate for the few individuals who have tried to help their neighbours and others by spreading salt on residential roads during the recent cold weather.' Tidy Tavi volunteers meet in the Meadowlands Café at 10 am on the first Saturday of every month. The group also hope to arrange a midweek session during February. Further details will be announced in due course. Everyone is welcome to come and join in, if only for half an hour or so. Wear some sensible footwear, clothing appropriate to the weather conditions and some stout gloves. Tidy Tavi will provide all the other items necessary.
