FOUR houses that caused a major problem for a Tavistock builder after a mix-up between the architect and West Devon planners were recently completed.

Builder Rob Moule was halfway through building the houses on the banks of the Tavistock canal when the planners told him he would have to demolish them because they were at a higher level than they thought the council had given permission for.

Residents had also complained they were out of keeping with the grade II listed Fitzford cottages they were built next to.

Mr Moule took the matter to appeal, and won, and the buildings have now been completed and sold.

'It's hard to see what the fuss was all about,' said Mr Moule.
