TONY Pearson enjoyed a very successful month at Hurdwick Golf Club, winning both of the month?s competitions.

He won the Midweek Medal with a net score of 64; second was Kevin Pugh, 69 and Tim Gale third with 70.

Tony took first place in division one in the stableford competition, producing an excellent 36 points. Second was Tim Gale, 35 pts, and Jason Archer third with 34.

Division two winner was George Sargison with 33 pts, followed by George Whitfield with 31 and Phil Bryant with 30.

The ladies? winner was Brenda Truscott, 32 pts, Alena Wardle second with 29 and Sally Arscott third with 28. The only ?two? of the day came also from Tony Pearson, who won the ball sweep.

Tony and his partner Jason Archer have also reached the final of the Hurdwick President?s Plate competition and will play Ray Spear and Derek Black for the trophy in June.

In the Devon Golf Union?s Palairet competition, Hurdwick played Budleigh Artisans. The five Budleigh pairs played well and won by four matches to one. Hurdwick stars were Jason Archer and Neil Tamblin, who beat a strong Budleigh pair and secured the club?s only victory.

In the Penina Captains? Golf Classic club captain Rodney Browne and partner Tim Hawkins beat the Fingle Glen pair to go into the second round.Congratulations to club champion and Devon County player, Adam Bridgewater, who won the Devon Golf Union?s Gold medal for 2003.
