THE annual harvest auction at Lamerton Village Hall drew an audience of more than 100 villagers and friends and raised £1,700 towards hall funds.

Local auctioneers David Kivell and Peter Palmer successfully auctioned more than 200 lots in their usual amusing manner.

There were many lots donated by local businesses and villagers alike and the products of Lamerton's community allotment figured quite large throughout the auction — as did the occasional lot of unspecified fish!

Those attending were treated to a hot pasty and a dessert.

William Dawe, village hall chairman, said he was pleased that despite the recessionary times, people still felt able to support such an important community event.

He expressed thanks to those who donated prizes, especially those businesses who recognised the value of the village hall.
