THE weather held out for the first ever Garden Safari held by the St Dominick Community Projects and Festivities group.

More than 150 visitors toured the nine open gardens, enjoying the plantings talking to the garden owners and admiring the views. Many also partook in refreshments at Halton Barton or went home with cakes or plants from stalls at other gardens.

Altogether the event was deemed a success, raising more than £1,300 for the projects and £205 for the 'Earthquake Victims of Nepal' fund organised by the South Asian Society of Plymouth.

Thanks were expressed to all the garden owners for all their hard work on the gardens and for making everyone welcome, to all the business owners who gave prizes for the raffle, the ladies who supplied cakes and scones, everyone who donated plants for sale and those who helped in many ways on the day.
