THE Rotary Club of Okehampton held their annual charity golf day at the Ashbury Golf Hotel on July 20, raising a record total of £9,000.

The money raised by the event will go toward local good causes, with a focus on school youth and sport.

This year's event proved very popular, with a field of 57 entries enjoying a great day of golf. Held on the impressive Kigbeare course, regular teams were joined by a contingent of 17 teams from rotary clubs across the region.

Showery weather did not affect play, with the winning team being GM Contractors with 91 points, who won the prize of a meal for four at the Eastgate Brasserie in Tavistock.

The Kitto Boys came second with 89 points, claiming the prize of a round of golf at Woodbury Park in Exeter.

Third place went to The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, who collected prizes of golf shoes and wine.

The Rotary Club expressed thanks to hotel owners Simon and Joan Essex for the permission to use their golf course for the event, the event's many sponsors and local businesses who donated prizes for the event.
