Tavistock 4

Falmouth Town 1

THE late arrival of Falmouth due to road accidents left them unprepared ? the majority arrived just 20 minutes before kick off.

The first high through-ball caught out their defence for Lee Doncaster to find himself in space at the edge of the area to lob keeper Greg White and put the Lambs ahead in under two minutes.

Minutes later Darren Babb saw Steve Proctor clear his header off the line then he stopped Paul Smith?s follow-up. The Lambs were in charge and it came as no surprise when they increased their lead after 17 minutes with Paul Adcock dummied James Cole?s cross to allow John Gosling to shrug off a defender and slot the ball home.

Falmouth?s first real attempt at goal came as Ross Pope was put clear but shot wide. Leon Massey then foiled the offside trap but was off target and the Lambs defence got themselves in a little tangle as Andy Meeds came out and seemed to stumble, but the danger was cleared.

The second half saw the perfect start for the Lambs as a reverse through-ball put Adcock in the clear cheekily to chip White for the ball to roll inside the far post.

The Lambs were in full flow. Adcock dummied Gosling?s low cross for Chris Gott to see his first-time strike glance off the crossbar before the visitors clawed themselves back when from a Massey cross that took a slight deflection, Damien Stevens headed home.

Their comeback was short-lived as the three subs combined. Jeff Babb back-heeled a pass into the path of Mark Wall whose shot was blocked by White, but Wayne Crow followed up to smash home.

On the stroke of full time a flowing move involving half of the Lambs side with intricate passing around the edge of the Falmouth area saw man of the match Lee Beer shoot home, but the celebrations were cut short after the referee consulted his assistant to award a free kick for offside.

This result sends the Lambs back to the top of the table.
