VISITORS to The Garden House at Buckland Monachorum have been treated to a startling display from the collection of more than fifty varieties of Japanese Maple that form the renowned Acer Glade. Head gardener, Matt Bishop, is equally enthusiastic about the stunning display. Matt said: ?It?s just as autumn colour should be. Not only are the maples fabulous, but other more unusual plants such as the five-pointed spindleberry are looking brilliant, and the fragrance coming from the Katsura ? which some equate to candyfloss or toffee, is especially powerful now.? The colours at The Garden House come also from late-season flowers including asters, dazzling blue monkshood and bright dahlias found in the newly restored bottom terrace of the Walled Garden surrounding the romantic ruined tower of the medieval vicarage. The 8-acre garden is open for visiting daily until November 4, after which the garden will be open at weekends only until December 16.
