TAVISTOCK men's hockey team won a top of the table clash against the unbeaten University students on Saturday.
An excellent start from Tavistock caught University cold, which allowed Nick Andrews to poach his first goal of the season.
University were flustered and straight from the re-start Nick Andrews capitalised on poor University play to score the second.
Tavistock continued to dominate with excellent link play between Nick Aveyard and Phil Honey which led to Andrews missing a hat trick opportunity.
Consolidation was the key to Tavistock's second half with hard work from John Barratt and Phil Edwards controlling the midfield.
Tavistock added a third when Carl Jeffrey benefited from an excellent build-up from the midfield.
Rob Kirby had an excellent game in defence and with captain Kevin Lethbridge and keeper Martin Osborne on the same wavelength Tavistock ensured a clean sheet for the third week running.
