Marjons B 4

Tavistock Men's 1 2

WITH temperatures reaching the mid 20s, a battle of two local teams began. But having to have first aid administered before the match started was a bit of a shock for Tavistock. In the warm up Ricky Ballard received a ball in the head which cut his eyebrow open. All patched up and the team looked ready for battle.

Tavistock started well pushing Marjons deep into their own half with the forward combination of Vinson, Daniells and Heard surging towards the opposition goal at every chance.

After a few near chances it was the turn of Marjons to capitalise in a scrambled chance across the line. With this in mind Tavistock worked the midfield of Richards, Aveyard, Jeffery and McDougall feeding the forwards with well worked and calculated play. This  seem to open up chances, but it took the skill of Heard to slot the ball past the keeper.

With what was looking like a draw at half time Marjons took the lead again.

The second half started with Marjons testing Tavistock's back line of Rundle, Ballard, Lovett and Wood. Not to be outdone the combination of youth and determination of Richards and Daniells  saw the latter  create a low run and pick up his own deflection to score and bring the game to 2–2.

With a win in sight, a deflection saw a cleared ball end up in the Tavistock net. The home side grew in confidence and made keeper Bradley pull off fine saves to relieve the pressure. Persistence saw Marjons score their fourth to finish the game.
