FIREFIGHTERS from North Tawton were called to Spreyton at 2.50pm on Saturday, after reports that a horsebox was trapped in electric gates at Bowbeer Cross.

On arrival, the crews found a cargo van carrying a horse stuck in an electric gateway. The firefighters, with watch commander Twiggy Lake in charge, isolated the power supply to the fence and gate and used a Tirfor winch and lines to release the vehicle.
