Torbay 0 Tavistock A 4 BOTH teams battled hard but it was the visitors who won through. The first goal came from a short corner involving Barrat Jnr, Mackintosh and Holland who finished the move and put the ball past the Torbay goalkeeper. The score remained 1-0 for the rest of the first half. Torbay had a few chances but the Tavistock defence of Rodda,Glanville and Cowan Snr soaked up any pressure the opposition could muster. Tavistock had played the sweeper system for a period of the game but Cooley changed the formation and put more players into the midfield to support J Reed. This proved a good a good tactical move as it was not long before Holland scored his second goal. Tavistock now had control of the mid field and were able to put the Torbay defence under constant pressure. Reed soon scored the third goal for Tavistock. Torbay tried hard to get back into the game but were never able to trouble Osborne in the Tavistock goal. The home side lacked discipline, Tavistock took advantage of this and played the better hockey. With only seconds left Cowan Jnr had the ball in the Torbay D and with a reverse stick shot scored Tavistock?s best goal of the match. Tavistock came away with the three points and this puts them in a strong position for the New Year.
