Tiverton v Chagford

CHAGFORD completed the double over Tiverton with an emphatic win at Blundells College.

Batting first Gribble and Lammonby put on 38 for the first wicket before Lammonby departed for 13 with Rowlands soon following for a duck.

Gribble (37) with the help of Skipper for the day Colin Mortimore(42) put together a useful stand with De Own making his long awaited first appearance of the season chipping in with 34.   However it was a fifth wicket stand of 58 between  Tony Niven and Stuart Lord that accelerated the scoring and enabled Chagford to reach 233 for 7 in their allotted overs.  Tony Niven scored 50 in 38 balls, and Stuart Lord 32 not out in 18 balls.

All the Chagford wickets were taken by J Hall 3 for 46 and J Parr 4 for 48.

When Tiverton and Bickleigh replied, Tony Read and Peter Tidborough batted confidently in an opening stand of 48, but with their dismissals for 31 and 28 respectively and with a sucession of single figure scores, Tiverton subsided to 96 for 8.   However star bowler Parr decided to take a hand with the bat, helping to put on 36 for the ninth wicket and 17 for the last before falling for 31. Tiverton were all out for 151 to give Chagford victory by 82 runs and a further 20 points in their quest for the championship.

Neal Rowlands was responsible for the mid innings collapse with 4 for 26, with Del Lammonby picking up the early wickets with 3 for 37 with Mark Gribble 2 wickets and Dean Topping the last.

Chagford are on 137 points in second place and Ivybridge are just 8 points behind in third.

Next week Chagford face a tough challenge away at former premier club Seaton.
