Tavistock RFC U12 28 Plymstock RFC U12 0 TAVISTOCK opened strongly with a concerted effort from the forwards, rewarded in the opening 10 minutes by a try from Dominic Dewson through a rolling maul. The confidence grew as the Tavistock boys realised they were fielding a stronger scrum with a following wind in the first half. Possession allowed the ball to be fed into the backs enabling a second try from a sprint into the corner from winger Aidan Mason. High possession with the ball circulating across the field and back afforded Sam Northmore at number eight the opportunity to use his speed and driving ability to cross the line on two further occasions. Playing into the wind in the second half with a regrouped Plymstock retaining a higher proportion of the ball, Tavistock's progress was slowed down. A number of breaks were thwarted by technical infringements being correctly punished by penalties to the opposition. However the effective defence by both forwards and backs denied Plymstock any score. The tries were all successfully converted by Henry Kisby. Tavistock RFC U12 7 Falmouth RFC U12 12 THE second game produced a more disciplined and stronger pack from Falmouth which exploited one of Tavistock's current weaknesses in not rucking quickly enough over the ball on the ground. This enabled Falmouth to achieve a high possession rate feeding the ball to their back line to make considerable progress into the Tavistock half. Tavistock's tackling continued to show the great strides made this season, although unfortunately some hesitation in deciding which player tackled the ball carrier enabled Falmouth to cross the try line on two occasions in the first half. In the second half Tavistock showed new determination with some excellent ball handling skills through Frazer Bayliss, Henry Kisby and Henry Salmon to Aidan Mason on the wing. Much of the second half game, aided by the strong gusts, was played in the Falmouth half but to Falmouth's credit they denied any score until Sam Northmore crossed the line in the closing minutes. A delivery of the second half performance by Tavistock in the first half could have changed the result of this well matched game.
