North/Okes U11s 33

Plymstock U11s 7

THIS was possibly North/Okes? best performance of the year. The playing conditions were made for running rugby and that is exactly what North/Okes did.

The first try came from a attacking scrimmage ten metres out from Plymstock?s line. James Ewen at scrum half took quick ball from the back of the scrum, passing to Andrew North who burst through several tackles to score. North converted.

The North/Okes forwards, Will Hawkins, Andrew Fishleigh,Chris Reynolds, James Speak, Merrick Kirby and Tom Dean, had the measure of their opponents and the next two tries confirmed this.

Hawkins from a planned lineout move and Fishleigh from a maul both used power and determination to get over the line. North converted. The visitors came back with good play bringing out excellent defensive tackling from Cameron Rickerby, Samantha Robertson and Kevin Dennis. Darcy Heard put in the best tackle of the match from behind his own goal-line.

Plymstock scored leaving it at 17-7 at half-time.

From an attacking ruck a greatly improving James Speak picked up and charged forward, passed to North who put a long floating pass to Kevin Dennis on the wing giving him the space out wide to outpace his opposite man to score in the corner. North converted.

The last try was a replay of the first with Ewen and North linking as part of a planned move to allow North to score. The conversion was by Samantha Robertson.

This week the U11s travel to Plymouth to take part in a rugby festival.
