OXFAM in Tavistock is calling all musicians, bands and solo artists to donate their time and talent for an upcoming Buskfest event.

Following the success of the first Buskfest for Comic Relief, held in the main Oxfam shop in West Street and the Oxfam Bookshop in Market Street, shop managers Jackie Theobald and Val Sharpe have decided to host another event for the Disasters Emergency Committee's East Africa Crisis Appeal.

The Disasters Emergency Committee is an umbrella organisation for 14 humanitarian aid agencies, including Oxfam, which brings together an alliance of the UKs aid at times of overseas emergency.

The current appeal, East Africa Crisis Appeal, is to help the ten million people who are at risk in East Africa due to conflict and some areas being affected by the worst drought in 60 years, by providing life-saving aid such as food, water, care for malnourished children and medical treatment.

Jackie Theobald said: 'Last time we made more than £500, this time we are hoping for more. We are calling for all musicians and artists to come and play.

'Some people may not be able to give money but they can give time. In times of emergency, sometimes giving your talent and time is just as good. Let's get some money to these people who need it!'

The Buskfest is planned for Saturday July 23 and will take place at both Oxfam shops.

The bookshop is also holding an all-day tombola this Saturday, July 16.

Anyone who is interested in playing at Buskfest can contact either Jackie on 01822 615534 or Val at the bookshop on 613901.
