THE Christmas holidays are the ideal time to get out and enjoy the beauty of Dartmoor, either as an antidote to festive stress or a cure for an excess of food and drink.
There are a range of guided walks organised by Dartmoor National Park Authority taking place in the coming weeks, ranging from strolls to strenuous stomps.
This Saturday there is a four hour walk from Princetown, taking in Meavy Head, Black Tor Falls, Fur Tor, Swelltor and Foggintor, starting at 10.30am.
The following day, children can join Ranger Ralph for a two-hour walk from Newbridge at 1.30pm. Telephone 01822 890414 to book.
On Boxing Day there is a three-and-a-half hour walk from Postbridge at 10.45am and the following day, a four hour walk will explore the East Okement Valley, leaving at 10.30am.
On Tuesday December 30, you can learn about vermin traps and warrens on a four-hour walk from Blackaton Cross, leaving Cadover Bridge at 10.30am.
