TAVISTOCK Twinning Association made its biannual visit to the twin town of Pontivy in Brittany on May 27.
Following a smooth overnight crossing on the Roscoff ferry, the group arrived by minibus in Pontivy at 10.30am. Many of the group knew their host families from previous visits and were touched by the warm welcome.
During their stay they visited many places of interest, including Dinan with its huge gateways and city walls and many fine medieval buildings.
The host families also took their guests to many other places on the coast and in the countryside. One of the highlights of the weekend was the official reception and dinner in a restaurant set on an island in the River Blavel.
The group returned by ferry on May 31 and thanked Mike Felles for safely chauffering the party to and from Pontivy. The return visit by Pontivy is due in 2005.
The next twinning event will be the visit in July by the twinners of Celle, Tavistock?s twin town in Germany, for which a full programme of events has been arranged.
Anyone who would like more information or would like to become a member of the twinning association can contact Mike Felles on 01822 616391.
