WHEN it comes to a tale to tell, children from Bere Alston Primary School certainly had something to talk about after they were visited by a storyteller and puppeteer. Michael Jones, who performs his shows throughout the UK and abroad, kept the children enthralled with his one-man show 'Watch out for the Badgers.' The tale tells of the trouble in a block of flats as some animals try and sort out how to stop a rooster crowing at 4am; how to keep the stairs clean and how to solve the mystery of who keeps ripping the bin bags and chucking rubbish everywhere. When a flat becomes empty the animals all agree that the last thing they want is a family of badgers moving in. Michael chose this story to perform as a way of helping children be more welcoming towards new children in their school and local community, and to see being 'different' as something positive.' He told the Times: 'The show usually lasts 45 minutes but the children were so involved we overran by 20 minutes. 'I'm sure the children took on board the story's message and will go back to school to talk and write about the story. The children of Bere Alston Primary School were a pleasure to work with.'
