THE Church House in South Tawton is to host two concerts this autumn. Huw Williams and Maartin Allcock will perform together on Friday, September 26. Songwriter Huw is well known individually and also for his work with Tony Williams, Maartin has played in a variety of bands including Fairport Convention and is a very well know and respected multi instrumentalist. Having met on a Fairport Convention tour bus in 1995, the two have come together with a performance of stories about life on the road, soundchecks and how and why some of the songs were written. The Church House will host a performance by the Carrivick Sisters on Friday, November 28. The Carrivick Sisters are one of the UK's top young bluegrass and folk acts. Twins Laura and Charlotte perform their original songs and instrumentals along with a few carefully chosen covers on guitar, mandolin, fiddle, dobra, and claw hammer banjo. They have built a reputation for engaging and entertaining live performances with tight sibling vocal harmonies and multi-instrumental virtuosity. Having grown up in South Devon, much of their original material is inspired by their local surroundings and history. Tickets for each gig cost £7 each.
