A HUGE success ? despite torrential rain, thunder and lightning ? that was the verdict following the big Parklife music festival in Tavistock last Sunday. In the best tradition of rain-soaked live music events the bands played on ? eventually ? although the weather conditions forced a two-hour break in performances at the event, held in the grounds of Tavistock College. College principal Colin Eves said: ?It was a wonderful event, absolutely fantastic. I was delighted the vast majority of the audience stayed on in spite of the rain and joined in the spirit of the thing ? there were a lot of comments and jokes about it being like Glastonbury! ?The quality of the performances was really exceptional. There were some brilliant bands and the standard of the student bands was very high indeed ? it was good they had the opportunity to play on a professional platform like this.? Mr Eves said a huge thank you to everyone who had put in so much hard work to bring the festival together ? and to the many sponsors including Plymouth Sound radio.
