SHOPPERS at a local supermarket helped raise nearly £400 for charity by practising their football skills, petting owls and having their faces painted.
All these activities and more were on offer at a Diabetic Energetic Fun Day held at Tesco's Callington store recently. Among the other attractions were zumba performers, donkeys from Tamar Donkey Sanctuary, birds of prey from Ancient Art Falconry and an appliance from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service.
Event organizer Tesco manager John Collins said: 'This summer we are trying to raise £2000 for Diabetes UK. Everybody had a lot of fun, and we took a huge step towards our target.'
