I WAS at the very moving Remembrance Sunday Service at the war memorial in Tavistock.
As always it was very well attended but I was a little disappointed that cars and lorries were released to drive through the square and disturb the silence while wreaths were still being laid. When I spoke to a policeman he explained that while he was very sympathetic they weren't able to hold up the traffic for the whole service.
Given that we manage to keep traffic out of the square for Goose Fair, the Dickensian Evening, and the carnival can we ask our councillors to make sure that next year traffic is redirected for the whole of the ceremony?
It is the very least we can do.
