TWO brothers from Luckett, Ross and Marcus Williams, who have been members of the Stoke Climsland Scout Group since the age of six, have recently gained the highest youth award within scouting — The Queen’s Scout Award.

Having achieved their bronze, silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards through the group, they both received their gold award at St James’ Palace, attended by Prince Philip.

In addition to these three awards, Marcus took part in a County Explorer Belt expedition spending ten days trekking in Corfu and the brothers have participated in numerous scouting camps, church activities, a cultural diversity event, a weekend junior synod and organised and carried out a district St George’s Day parade and themed terms programmes for younger members of the group, culminating in achieving their Queen’s Scout Awards.

As pictured above special certificates and badges were presented to them by Mark Smith, Callington’s mayor and portreeve, and their group leader Ailsa Weaver, who congratulated them on their outstanding achievements.

Ross and Marcus are now looking forward to the annual parade of award holders within Windsor Castle on April 23, 2017, attended by members of the Royal family.
